Today you turn 16.
It’s a big birthday for a young man.
If you lived in a household with a less controlling father, then you would be allowed to see us today, or at the very least receive the gifts and messages we have for you.
But since you happen to be in that household, and don’t yet have autonomy, you are being kept from your family that loves you dearly.
Our love for you doesn’t go away.
That’s impossible.
No matter what he says or does, he cannot control how much your uncle and I love you.
Some day you will know how much you are loved, and by a love that isn’t controlling or conditional.
When you find out the truth, you are going to be confused for a while.
That’s ok.
There are people surrounding you who will help you see that this isn’t about you at all… which at first stings.
Then, over time, it will make sense.
You won’t love him any less.
You will simply see that he is who he is.
He only knows control.
It’s the sword he wields.
But he won’t be able to wield that sword for much longer, as you develop into your own person, and get to choose for yourself who you see and when.
Even what you eat.
When you can salt your food without the salt shaker being ripped from your hands, you will know a freedom that you cannot even imagine currently.
It’s metaphorical.
When you can have a bite to eat with your friends without having to look up the sodium content of that food afterwards to prove that he is right and that everything he despises isn’t necessarily bad…
you will start to grow your wings.
When you get to develop your own paradigm, your own view of the world, and see that you have choices beyond those which you have been shown…
things will make more sense.
I hope that you are hanging out with great friends, having enormously amusing conversations, and, selfishly…
I do hope that you start to see outside of the box you have been kept in.
It’s his biggest fear.
That you will become your own person, and do things that he cannot control.
You will speak words that you didn’t know you had in you to say out loud.
You will think thoughts that at first you will question – is the thought something that he would approve?
You will meet people who are not approved.
You will become friends with them.
You will become who you are meant to become, without interference.
You don’t know this yet.
But you will soon.
